Title says it all... reached out to Samsung... waste of time.
Download the APK, initiate install... runs for a moment then says "install failed".
Any ideas? I'm at a loss.

uNiVerse555, I'm sorry to hear that after the software update the Play Store isn't working. Let's fix this for you. May I have you please remove the sim card and reinsert it? that should help. Does your device have any physical or liquid damage?

Let me say a couple of things.
1) I am delighted and amazed that Verizon is so responsive to our issues;
well done.
2) I removed the SIM and did another factory reset; unable to install.
3) No damage, however, maybe something I am unaware of has malfunctioned...
is there a diagnostic test you can run?
4) I have installed and ran, at least, twenty other apps without issue.
5) I have had nothing but flawless performance with 5.0 excluding this
issue; I love this version of Android!
6) I have decimated my data usage attempting to resolve it (I'm at 90% of
my 4 gigs and cycle ends 03/05). As I never go over it my limit is
frustrating that, in the end, it will cost me to fix such a seemingly
simple issue. Ultimately, I blame Samsung as the support response was
UNDERWHELMING.
Thanks for any help.

I appreciate you taking the time to provide this information and providing those kind words! May I ask what happens when you attempt to install the update? Have you been able to head into Settings > Applications > Application Manage and reset the app. You may complete this by heading into the particular app and force stopping the service and clearing cache and data.

The app does not appear.
After updating from 4.4 to 5.0 the Samsung Galaxy Apps application
disappears/is not installed.
When attempting to manually install from Samsung Web site I get the same
error messages others have reported...it cannot install.

I am not installing an update. The Samsung app store is not part of the
factory image.
I try to install the apk and it asks me to approve the install and I do...
then the install begins and it says "installation failed".
There are two versions of the Samsung apk... one is new install and the
other is upgrade install... both fail in the same way.

Thanks for the additional info flnetman62! May I ask have you tried the steps that my co-worker YosefT provided? If so then what were the results? If the steps didn't work then I would suggest performing a factory reset on the device and retest. A link on how to perform the reset is below. Please post the results after you have done so.
