S5 freezing up after Marshmallow update.

After the most recent Verizon update to Marshmallow the  Input of data or text, dialing numbers, using browser or apps all hanging up then after a lapse of a few seconds and sometimes a minute or more the phone will perform the actions requested. Very aggravating and time consuming. Version customer support tells me to do factory reset and reinstalling all my data and apps would tahe hours. Is there an easier solution????

I can definitely see why this is very aggravating, ENRVIE74. Do you notice the same trouble whether you have WiFi or Bluetooth on or off? I’d like you to place your device into Safe Mode using the steps at http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-111483/ and let me know if you experience the same delays with the preinstalled applications from your phone.

That is the info from the S5 Settings menu.

Prior to the update my phone worked well with no issues or delays like I am

having since the update was applied...

Internal Storage 12.68 GB used of 16.00 GB

SD Card 14.80 used of 58.53 GB

Am now at home turned and turned on WiFi and S5 is updating apps. Running

in safe mode and so far system is not exhibiting constant freezes even

though it did crash Google Chrome while I was attempting to clear its cache.

The problems that occur do so whether I turn on WiFi or Bluetooth or not.

Am now running on safe mode and am at home so I have turned on WiFi to

allow app updates to load. Will email you with results after letting phone

run on Safe Mode for this evening... Thanks,RickV

While a factory reset would allow the device to reinstall the operating system which could in turn clear up any issues with the phone acting sluggishly. I have run the device health check the only issues or screen brightness and

scream timeout length and applications increased permissions as well as

Suggestions to move the applications to SD card or uninstall. All other

checks passed so I do not see any issues there that affect the performance

and freeze up issue.

I have reset the brightness and timeout settings and the only suggestions

for storage and performance would affect the apps I use regularly.

The storage use is as follows;

Memory 7.40GB/10.54 GB

Temporary Files 0.00 B

Sd card 14.46 GB/58.53 GB
