Problem with email updating

Is anyone else having a problem with your AOL email account updating on the phone? It hasn't loaded a new email since 12/21/12. It goes through the refreshing process but nothing happens.
When I go to delete the account and reinstall it, a box comes up that reads, "Account is needed by some apps. You can only remove it by resetting device to factory defaults (which deletes all personal data)"
Please help..
