Not every update but sometimes email server settings don't respond correctly after any change to the phone via software or upgrading to a new device. Simply removing the account and putting it back on is a quick fix.
Sorry to see you are having that email trouble as well. Is this occuring with one email account or several? Have you had any trouble accessing the email elsewhere ( such as on a desktop computer, etc)? Are you using the embedded email application or a 3rd party email app?
