This whole experience just gets better and better ... finally up and running on the new phone and the vibrate sounds/feels very "springy", almost like the motor is somewhat dead. Completely different sound and feel than my original S4. Hooray for refurbs! Now I get to wait for yet another refurb... lovely.
Thank you Verizon for consuming too much of my time and continually putting me and my fiance through all this frustration.

This whole thing is so bizarre. I've got an S4, got the 4.3 update, and have had few if any of the problems others have reported, although I haven't done anything different that I know of. How on earth can a software update break the charging function on some instances of supposedly identical hardware and not on others?
In my situation, the older Samsung-branded wall-outlet charger I use every day continues to work; but so does the Duracell multipurpose wall/car charger that I bought at Office Depot, which I keep in my car. That's a 2-amp charger, and the older Samsung at home is less than 1 amp. My experience thus is that a Samsung-branded charger and a non-Samsung 2-amp charger both work. But I wouldn't necessarily expect that to be so for those who are having the charging issues.
I would also agree that anyone who bought a Verizon-branded charger that now fails to work ought to be able to go to a Verizon store and exchange it at no cost for a Samsung charger that works.

I have had ALMOST no problems since the update. however, my folders on the homescreen have started to inactivate themselves, and when you try to go into apps from the homescreen, the apps would be gone! in order to get them back, I had to restart the phone. so after that, it did it again about an hour later. this has happened to me about 5 or 6 times, so I loaded up Nova Launcher, and so far, no problems. I'm glad my problems are relatively minor compared to everyone else's. my car charger works, all my other chargers work, and my battery life is slightly better than before. but this "folder glitch" is quite annoying, I just hope it doesn't happen again. i'm really hesitant to call tech support, since this is obviously a much larger problem than anyone wants to admit. good luck to all getting our S4's back to the wonderful problem free device it was.

I utilize the charger that was received when I purchased the phone. I’ve found it difficult to maintain batteries when using an “off brand” charger or a different charger than what came with the phone. Like you said, the amperages don’t line up. The most annoying thing is the fact that I cannot send a text message without going through my contacts list. When I am in “messaging,” typing in the first few letters of any contact that I have does not bring up that contact. It appears no matter what I type in, that the list brought up is a list of most contacted through sms or mms… For instance, I type the letter “C” and “Sherrie” shows up … Thanks in advance for any help.

@cheeredup - lots of people are having the contact issue. Attempt a battery pull for a few minutes, odd I know, but it does seem to fix the issue.

Like others here, my S4 functioned perfectly *before* the 4.3 update. And like others, the Verizon car charger doesn't work, and the Wi-Fi often disconnects supposedly because of "weak signal", on several routers that worked fine before. In fact, the workable distance from the routers has been cut approximately in half.
Exchanging Verizon car chargers for Samsung or issuing a refund, only fixes one issue (an important one for me, as I use navigational apps that are a high battery drain). Wi-Fi, and the other issues that people are reporting, are only fixable with a software patch/update. I'd be more than satisfied with a roll-back to 4.2.2, if that's even technically possible. I'd endure a factory reset if I thought it would resolve this, but it's a great deal of work no matter how thorough your backups are, and it has been reported to be ineffective.
Please Verizon customer service, no more "canned" answers. It sound patronizing. If HQ hasn't given you an explanation, say so. It's been an absolutely incredible phone. Until then, I'll be waiting for the update...

There is and will be NO official rollback to the Android 4.2.2 OS version.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Well, the rollback is to call and have VZW ship you a refurb which is running on 4.2.2.
