Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Coming Soon

I read on Droid-Life that Verizon will be releasing the 4.1.2 update soon.  I decided to check on Verizon's site and it does say that this update is "Coming Soon" (see link below).

Received today without a problem which impressed me. I have an encrypted phone as per my employer requirements. I did not think this update would go through properly because of the encryption but it did without a problem.

Unfortunately Amazon and VZnavigator are shovelwared again. Has anyone told Verizon we don't need these forced on us, and can DL them if we want?

Can you still disable those two applications?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I've downloaded and installed the OTA update to 4.1.2 on my [completely stock -- never rooted] Verizon Samsung Galaxy SIII [16GB Blue].

Many new bugs.

The biggest annoyance/breakage is that the 4G-LTE radio now drops EVERY SINGLE TIME a minute or less after the phone boots up -- and it goes into 3G mode and stays there.

I have NEVER lost 4G-LTE on this phone at my residence -- EVER. Not once since I've owned this phone [July 2012]. It was ALWAYS a solid 4-bars out of 5. But now -- every single time the phone boots up it detects the 4G-LTE signal and goes into 4G-LTE mode -- then promptly drops 4G-LTE within 60 seconds and goes into 3G mode and stays there [3G @ 2 bars signal strength]. The 4G-LTE connection does not come back unless I reboot the phone -- and it stays only 60 seconds or less and is gone again. I've tried changing the Mobile Network settings and NOTHING I've tried fixes the 4G-LTE drop since this update.

No matter where I go -- this phone now drops 4G-LTE within 60 seconds of booting. Be it at my residence or out and about in the San Diego area. This is definitely NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Also, a lesser, minor annoyance but still annoying, the stock 'AccuWeather' widget on the main homescreen now REQUIRES you turn on your GPS and Google location services -- just to update and refresh your local weather. It never ever did that before. So now, unless I turn on all of my Galaxy S3's various location services -- I can't get a weather update. Although, all of the other locations I have set to the weather widget update with just a press of the update icon as before.

I'm still looking around to see what else Verizon broke with this long overdue update.

It appears that battery life has been hit again too -- in the BAD WAY. The battery in this phone after this update is draining very fast but it's going to take a few days to track the difference from before the update.

I dang well pay for 4G-LTE service and I've never ever had a problem with dropping 4G-LTE service before. That better get fixed before anything else -- and it better not take a freakin' year for you to do it, VERIZON!

**Did a Battery Pull. Rebooted -- still the same. Did a SIM Card pull. Rebooted. Shut down and reinstalled SIM Card. Rebooted -- still the same. Dropping 4G-LTE @ 4 bars signal strength within 60 seconds and going into 3G mode @ 2 bars signal strength. This s u c k s...

Installed update today no problems. OS appears to be much more stable and smoother. No problems with 4G or Accu Weather app. Battery life appears to be an improvement. I used to have a flashing while on the the bookmark page in my browser which has stopped. Happy camper here.

SD-Tom  -  I see you're having problems with battery life with the new update, so am I!  Even plugged into the charger it just stays at the same percentage, and off the charger it drops by 1% about every 2 minutes. I see that the process "android.process.media" is constantly using CPU, at an average of 27% (but often goes much higher than that).  Who else is seeing this??? This is a MAJOR problem, I need my phone for work and can't necessarily leave it plugged in all day long!

Update:  I killed the android.process.media task and CPU use went down a ton.  I read that this process is related to the SD card, so I plugged the phone into the computer to cause it to scan the SD card, and bingo the CPU use is back up.

Has this update been released or is it going to be released? As I have Jelly Bean version 4.1.1 now and by checking for update manually it says that no update available (not offering 4.1.2)

Where as:

I noticed that the Facebook news scroll that you can add to the Lock Screen now works.  I never could get it to show anything with Jelly Bean 4.1.1, no matter how many time I clicked the tiny refresh button.
