I recently paid off my S9 so I could upgrade to another phone. I decided to keep my S9 to sell online, but I'm unsure if it's unlocked or not. I've read online that all new Verizon Samsung phones are unlocked, but most of those posts are a few years old, and some other posts stated that Verizon has started locking them in the last couple years. Is this true? Or is my Verizon S9 actually unlocked?

Since your Samsung Galaxy S9 is optimized to work best when serviced by the Verizon Wireless network, we recommend representing it that way. While it’s not “locked” to our network once you pay off the loan for it, there’s no guarantee regarding how it will perform on other networks. It’s important, too, that you first sign out from your Gmail (Google) account on that S9 prior to doing a Factory Data Reset. This will ensure the theft lock is properly disabled.
