I have samsung galaxy s4. When the phone rings, the first ring always sounds much lower than the rest of the rings. Is this normal?

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4. What I noticed is that when the phone rings, the first ring sounds lower (volume wise) than the rest. I don't know if this is normal for this phone or do I have a defective phone?

The Galaxy S4 has a "feature" that is supposed to gradually bring the ringer volume from silent to full (set) volume.  Unfortunately, the time that it does this over it very short and so the sound appears to go from very quiet to very loud all of a sudden.  Also unfortunate, there is no user accessible setting to configure this.  There is however an app on the Play Store called "Disable Increasing Ring" that will stop the volume ramp up and force the ringer to ring at set volume all the time.
