When I set up my e-mail account the first time, it will down load my mail one time. After that it will not down load it again. When I delete the account information and set it up again, it will down load me e-mail once and then stop.
Check the sync settings for the email; see if it is set to sync at all, or what the interval is set at. I set mine to every 15 minutes for 30 minutes .... Go to settings > Accounts > Email > Choose the email account and it should have Sync settings where you can set up the schedule.
You also should be able to open the email account, and sync within it manually, regardless of the sync settings.
