My voicemail icon keeps showing there is 1 voicemail. When I sign in to my voicemail, it is empty, but the icon and message that there is 1 voicemail stays on all the time.

Have someone call you and leave you a voicemail. Go in and delete the message and once it's deleted press the * key until you hear "thank you and goodbye" ...you may have to press it once or twice. See if this clears out the icon:)

Press the Voicemail icon that is on your Home Screen and choose the second selection "Clear Notifications".

I have one more possible solution. Go into Settings and click Application Manager. At the very top you will see the word "Downloaded", slide this to the left until you get to "ALL". Scroll through the apps until you get to "Voicemail". Select Voicemail, Touch Force stop (select OK if prompted). Then Touch Clear Data (select OK is prompted). See if this clears the annoying message.

Samsung Galaxy SIII (SCH-1535), Android 4.1.3, Kernel3.0.31-1152558 (09/23/13)
My solution was to:
- Access the phone's Settings
- Go to Application manager
- Roll over to 'All' applications
- Select the red Verizon Voicemail app
- Clear Data
- Back one menu to the green Verizon Phone app
- Clear Data
- Exit the Settings back to Home
- Turn the phone completely off and back on again
The notification icon for me is gone. Finally.

Great advice! I simply called myself from another phone and left a voicemail. I then accessed that voicemail from the problem cellphone, and deleted it. The ghost voicemail icon then disappeared. Thanks for the help!
