How do I check voicemail using the icon?

With my old S5, I could click on voice mail icon and quickly check my voice mails - could check any specific message - could see them   With my new S7, I have to enter password and cannot select a specific message to listen to same as used to get by dialing into voice mail.   Is this no longer an option?
