tonymoore7777,
Good day to you. I know backing up contacts are always an important thing to do with the cell phones now days. Do you Backup Assistant? If so you can always log into your My Verizon on a computer to see the list of contacts and save them as a .csv file on the computer. Here are the steps that you can use to get that taken care of: http://vz.to/1gZ6Hv1 Please keep us posted.

Don't know that you can. I don't trust the "cloud" verizon offers (how do I get stuff back?, check if it is saved?)
I just switched from GS3 to an iPhone. And found out I can't get the phone numbers off the GS3 with cloud. (carrier switch)
This is what worked:

Well close, anyway.
You need the gmail. You don't need a cable to computer.
On the Galaxy, open contacts, tap menu,
tap share name cards, select all (or go through the list),
tap Done, select share via Gmail.
When the gmail arrives on your computer, open and click on the person icon with the + sign, to add contacts to your Gmail contact list.
It may be the only thing I use Gmail for, to collect and move my contacts around.
There is an option to export the contacts from the phone. This is saved on the phone as a CSV file. The file can be copied over the the computer as a backup.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
