Since this morning, every time I open my phone, I get the pop-up for the
upgrade. So I did a little reading. . .
After everything that I have read, I DO NOT want Lollipop on my phone!
I have tried turning off notifications. I have force stopped the "ConfigUpdater"
I have turned off the notifications for "Google Services Framework", I have even
long clicked and force stopped the SDM, etc.
And still, my effing phone will not quit. I am happy with the way my phone is,
and if I want to upgrade it to lollipop, it will be with a custom ROM that doesn't have
all the bloatware!
Someone please help. Everything I have tried has failed to stop this damn notification.
Thanks!

You can delay the update, but you have to do it every day. I've been delaying updates on my S4 since October.

No you don't. I refused the update and it hasn't showed back up in over a week.

I refused the update and that tactic lasted for about two weeks, then the notifications started showing up multiple times daily. Eventually the update will self install itself onto your phone without your permissions.

Verizon told me that there is no way to permanently decline the update, it is being pushed by Samsung. I have not contacted Samsung.
I have been postponing the update each day however the other thing I have done, in case I forget to postpone it on any given day, is load some extra music or something onto the device. It will not be able to do the update if there is not enough free space on the device since it will not put an update to the OS on the memory card. Since this is a large update, that should continue to do the trick until such time I feel enough of the "bugs" have been resolved.

I finally did a backup of all important info, factory reset my S4, and updated to 5.0.1
I haven't had one single issue so far. Battery life is even comparable to before the update. Talk about a relief. This version is so much more usable. I like it a lot more.

That's all well and good if you want to spend hours reinstalling all the apps are reconfiguring your home pages after doing the FDR. I'm fine with Kit Kat and a working phone. Lollipop isn't for older devices of any kind.

It's great for older devices. ART runs smoother than Dalvik and the memory RAM management is great as well.
