I'm locked out too -- new phone. I set up thumbprint access for screen lock but phone updated and won't let me in unless I give passcode. I wrote down a 4 digit pc but it doesn't work. Ugh!

That's definitely concerning. Have you been able to select the recovery option while on the device?
