Thanks for giving all these steps a try, FALCONFAN. I don’t believe a master reset is anywhere near where we need to head, but a reboot (turning your phone off for a few seconds and turning it back on) is always a good idea when something quirky is happening on your phone. Since you mentioned already trying that on your S5, and since you’ve already mentioned you’ve moved the tone into your Ringtones folder https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-97789/ , you’ve already tried some great ideas. Where was the ringtone downloaded from in the first place? What file type is it saved as?

Thanks for the help. I have a Galaxy s7. Do you move the ringtone from "my files" to the ring tone folder the same way? I've loved this phone, but THIS issue is SOOOO frustrating.

Yes you need to move the file to the Ringtones folder on the internal memory space using the My Files application (file explorer app) in order for the phone to recognize the file as available ringtone.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
