My Galaxy S7 did an update on Saturday then froze up. The Verizon store reset the phone and that required my gmail user name and password. I couldn't remember either one, so we retrieved the user ID and changed the password. The Gmail lock is still on and tells me I have to wait 24 hours. Is there a way to bypass this lock?

Nope, the Gmail "kill switch" tyipically requires a 24 hour wait period before being able to sign in on the device that the "untrusted" factory reset was performed on. It typically does increase to 72 hours if the GMail password was reset and you would need to wait that amount of time before able to log back in on device with the new Google password.

I wanted to follow up with you kvo0725. I understand the importance of accessing your Gmail. Were you able to get back in?

Hi Amber,
No I was not. Samsung didn't even try to help. They told me to go to Best Buy for a factory reset. Very frustrating!

Hi Michelle,
I am all done with Verizon & Samsung. I have opened a new account with AT&T and will have a new phone today. I have a Verizon phone that is not even a year old and is of no use to me. The woman told me I could not return it because it was more than two weeks old and I would have to pay the remaining balance owed on the phone. Good luck to Verizon on collecting that remaining balance.
Sincerely,
Kevin [removed]

Just to clarify;
you didn't remember your Google login and password which locked you out of the device when an untrusted factory reset was perfomed, yet you are blaming this on Verizon and Samsung?!?!
Verizon and Samsung are the two entities in this particular situation that have absolutely nothing to do with this.
If next, you don't remember your Google info on your new Motorola device with AT&T, is it then going to be AT&T and Motorola's fault and you will go to T-Mobile next??
This type of thinking is just not logical....
You are the one who has forgotten your log in info and chose to do the reset which requires you to wait and go through the steps, but if there is anyone who should be taking the blame it is maybe Google but mostly yourself for not remembering your Google credentials or writing it down.
