Giving up on Verizon Wireless

I am not eligible for an upgrade until October. Meanwhile my phone is useless - something is wrong with the microphone and calls drop because people cannot hear me. I've contacted VW at the store and on line and in a chat, and they tell me I can buy a new phone for $600 (wowie!) or wait until October.  The "Edge" program is nothing but financing. Why would I want to finance a phone?

I can buy an unlocked phone at Best Buy for practically nothing and sign up with AT&T. Why would I stay with VW if they have so little interest in keeping a long-time customer?  This two-year lock in is a big mistake.  I will never do it again.  (BTW, I did not drop or damage the phone. It's just not working properly.)

Just frustrated and venting.  Am I missing something here?

I'm sorry to learn that you are having some microphone/audio issues with your phone barbaratampa! I understand that you are not interested in upgrading via our Edge program http://vz.to/1dG4Hpu either. Let's bring your phone back to factory settings and test. This procedure will bring your phone back to original settings and will resolve any system issue that is causing the mic/audio problems. http://bit.ly/LfV00q

Check on craigs list for a used phone. When I upgrade, I sell my old phones on CL to people just like you who only need something cheap to get them by until upgrade eligible.

OTOH, if you don't want a 2 year contract AND you don't want the edge program, you'r choices are very limited.
