My phone powered down and wont start back up.
Mine did the same thing last night. I was at work and the battery was getting low. I plugged it in and then got busy. This morning when I was ready to leave, I retrieved my phone, pushed the power button and nothing happened....completely black screen. I took the battery out a few times...still nothing.
If you google "Samsung S3 sudden death" you'll find a number of articles discussing this. I'm staying up tomorrow morning after work to attempt to deal with it, but some people are reporting having difficulties with Verizon in rectifying this problem.

I noticed that on a few occasions at night when I plugged in the charger there was no feedback that the phone was charging; no beep, no charging icon. I would unplug the charger and reinsert it and then all was OK. This was with the Samsung charger and cable. From then on I made sure the phone was actually charging and not just plugged in.
Sbiterman, it's been awhile so I'm hoping this issue has been resolved. Just in case you have this problem in the future, pulling the battery out for a few seconds and re-inserting will generally help. If still not powering on, try an alternate hard reset http://bit.ly/ZE2yW5.
