I can certainly understand the confusion with the recent changes within the app, Vsgirl8600. We have verified that this feature has been removed in the latest release. Other third party applications may have this functionality however, and so you may want to test out other apps to regain this function. Additionally, we have lifted up the concern and it is possible the feature may return in a future update, so I would recommend ensuring all future updates are downloaded and applied as soon as they are released. I hope this answer was beneficial.

kenkoller,
Being able to distinguish between your incoming alerts is a useful feature to have. Software updates can change the availability of features that we all get used to having. The most recent update for the S8/S8+ did just that as the option for custom text alerts has been removed. If you're using the Message+ app, you still have the option to customize your tones via these steps Message+ > Message thread for the contact > Menu (three dots in upper right corner) > Customize > Tones and select the tone you'd like to set for that contact.

Kathyhm,
We understand that this is a difficult change with this new update. You do still have the option to customize these text notifications in the messaging application. This works in both the Messages+ application and the Samsung Message application that comes with the phone.

Jenelle, how many times do we need to tell you guys that the option isn't there in the Samsung Messages app? Have you even tried to see if the option is there? If you did, you'd stop telling everyone that it is there, because it is not .

You won't see it, because it's not there, regardless of what these tech support people are telling us. I have no idea how you can be in tech support, and keep giving out incorrect information.

I apologize for any confusion KATMOO55. My resources indicate that software updates can change the eligibility of features from one software version to the next, and the most recent update for the S8/S8+ did just that as the option for custom text alerts has been removed from the native messaging application. You can still customize alerts if you use the Verizon Message+ application. You can customize your tones if you make the Verizon Message+ application your default messaging application and follow these steps: Message+ > Message thread for the contact > Menu (three dots in upper right corner) > Customize > Tones and select the tone you'd like to set for that contact.

Grammy678,
Device concerns are not what we want for you as our goal is to address and resolve your concerns as soon as possible. Allow us to assist with your Samsung Message app concern. To clarify, are you referring to the default app https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062615/?
