32GB availability

I am, for the first time, quite upset with Verizon Wireless...and I've been a customer in good standing for between 8 and 10 years now. I bought the 32GB S3 and I used nearly every bit of available memory on it. When the S4 was available to order, I went to a DE store and asked if they would be coming out with the 32GB soon. They guy told me that because the S3 32GBs didn't sell well, Verizon would not be selling a 32GB S4. So, I ordered the 16GB S4. When AT&T came out with the 32GB not long after I ordered my S4, I called Verizon and asked if they would have the 32GB available soon? Again, I was told no, that they had no information from the company indicating whether it would or would never carry it. So, I kept my S4.

Imagine my surprise when I logged in today to check my account and I find that the S4 is available in 32GB. So, I asked if they would exchange the 16GB I have for the 32GB I need. I am told no, because I'm not within the 14 days of purchase time. To me, that is just ridiculous! I am not happy with this decision and I wonder if this is a regular problem for other customers.

I believe these companies, considering all the phone options available, should allow us to order the memory and, if applicable, other features/hardware we want on our phones now. I think that's the next step, after allowing us to upgrade when we wish. I see Verizon, though the last of the 3 major companies, is implementing a program to allow us to upgrade when we want. Maybe they can be the first to ensure we also get all the hardware and/or features we need. I use my phone for work, school and personal activities. I need a good amount of on-board memory, not just the SD card.

I am extremely disappointed and hope the cell providers and phone makers start allowing us to order what we need when we need it, not when they negotiate for them to be released.

You could sell your S4 16gb on Swappa.com and purchase the S4 32gb.  I waited and purchased the 32gb S4 and am real happy with it and the fact I waited.  What you are talking about is not in black and white and is therefore nothing more than hear say.  I know one guy that was within the 14 day period and they exchanged his without question.  You and only you made your choices.

Thank you for the Swappa site info! Never heard of it before. I made a choice based on a Verizon rep telling me the 32GB would not be carried, then others after that. When the company provides us the information through its reps, they should stand behind them. By not allowing me to change it, they are not standing behind their reps. They are withholding information from their reps and we, their customers, out of fear we'll leave and go to another company. But, by not telling me this, especially when I called about AT&T carrying it...a time when I could change the phone as I was within the time limit...they are responsible for my choice, not me. It's not as if Verizon was holding back something the others didn't know about. They were offering it BEFORE Verizon! So, why withhold the information at that point? I'd have returned the 16GB and used my S3 until the 32 GB was available.

Btw, the following shows it's not just me hearing it from a rep. It was a press release that Verizon would not carry the 32GB phone.

Since that time, which was before the 16GB was even able to be preordered through Verizon, things changed. They should have told us, their customers, that the option would be available at a later date. Very bad business, in my opinion. If they are interested in keeping customers, they should be interested in keeping us informed, not hiding it from us. https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/961740#961740

A post on the Verizon Wireless community forum made by a customer is not an official statement by Verizon Wireless.  A press release is the official statements.  In a large company only a select few employees will know what future products or services they will carry and if they leaked the information before it was made public they could lose their jobs.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Many did not believe this and which I was one of those we wrote emails to VZW staff.  The S4 32gb is now reality to VZW.  We all waited.  Why would someone buy something they knew would not work for them, that would be just stupid.  You buy something you may not want but you can make it work or you wait until something comes out that will work. This is why I purchased a used S3 32 gb off Swappa.com as a backup.  I expected a very dry period for VZW 32gb phones on VZW with a SD card.  VZW and Samsung are making the apps to SD available now for the S4 but that is a joke.  It does not do what most customers think.  Phone sales people are just like car sales people, they tell you what they think you need to hear in order to sell you a new phone.

"VZW and Samsung are making the apps to SD available now for the S4 but that is a joke".

Why is this a joke? Doesn't it work like it is susposed to?

After the update, I was able to move most of my downloaded apps to the SD card.  Unfortunately, the VZW bloatware apps and operating system apps can't be moved.  There is an app called AppMgrIII that identifies the apps that can be moved to the SD card and moves the ones you select.

Well good, that part of the update works.  I can understand why you are not be able to move Verizion installed apps to the sd card, if you could then all of thier bloatware could be removed. At least those of us who have the 16 gb phones now dont have to worry about running out of space to install apps.
