According to https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/test-your-samsung-phone-by-using-secret-code-0-0162420/:

Accessing the Secret Diagnostic Menu

Before we begin, it's important to note that this feature may not be available on your device. Certain carriers, most notably Verizon and Sprint, have been known to block the code-based diagnostic mode on their Samsung smartphones and tablets, though newer phones from Sprint like the Galaxy S6 seem to have this functionality restored.

To get the ball rolling, simply open your Samsung's phone app. From there, enter *#0*# using the dial pad, and the phone will immediately go into its secret diagnostic mode. Note that the process is automatic, so there's no need to tap on the green call button to enter the command. So if you enter the code and nothing happens, the feature is disabled on your device.

Maybe a Verizon agent can check and confirm whether the Verizon version of the Samsung phone(s) have this feature disabled or not?

Thanks for reaching out Smsedinger, our goal is that your device works perfectly for you. What is going on with your device, that you want to text your screen function? What model phone do you have?

I have a Samsung galaxy s9 smg930v and want to use this to test the upper mic to see if its damaged. IT repeats everything callers say back to them. Very annoying. Also have a cracked screen so when I change it I want to test the new one.

Thank you for those details on the issue with your mic on calls, Tim20376. Some cellular service issues can affect the audio of calls, so it's best to try recording a voice memo or video from your phone to test the mic is recording audio properly outside the call.

Also having issues with this code not working.
Phone screen has a purple/pink line running down the far right portion of the screen. After several restarts the issue has not been resolved. Some googling suggests using this code and making adjustments with the screen by toggling the red/blue/green options that are available after using the code. Any suggestions with trouble shooting this issue since I can't seem to access self help with Verizon?

I have seen online where it says Verizon and sprint block that code, maybe why it won't work.

@daleholasek8

When you are having trouble with something on your device, we would always want to know about it right away, as we have a wide variety of approved troubleshooting steps that come directly from the manufacturer to help your phone get back to normal as easily as possible. We also make those tools available to you through our website, and if you use them when signed into your My Verizon account, it lets us see what you have already done on the phone when you do contact us: https://www.verizon.com/support/phones-and-devices/ . You had said you aren't able to access that, so what exactly happens when you try? Is there a reason that you aren't reaching out to us for help on that?

Searching for other troubleshooting steps, while it can seem helpful at the time, will also give you directions that are not part of a normal process, and it can even lead to damaging your phone to the point where a factory reset may be the only option to fix it. Dialing that string is not going to fix a display issue, and should not be used unless directed to do so by the manufacturer themselves.
