I put my note II on a phone charger.  display immediately gt a "black inky stain" in it.  over a few hours the stain spread.  now screen completely black.  What happened and can it be repaired?  If not repaired, can I get content (apps) moved to new phone?

Yuck! Sounds like the inner lcd broke. Sometimes a drop of a phone can break the screen on the inside but not on the outside.

Apps shouldn't be a problem, you just go in to play store on your replacement phone, then click the three lines at the top left of the screen, and choose "My Apps." This will display all the apps youve downloaded to your devices under the google account your signed in to. Makes it really easy to redownload.

Other stuff like pics and videos.... depends on if youve been backing up, perhaps to verizon cloud. You may also be able to transfer them to computer if your phone didn't have a lock screen password set up.

Nofo,

Nicholasbranson is on the right path with getting the information off your device. As it sounds as if the phone is at that state of needing to be repaired or replaced. If you have insurance, that may be best to file a claim for a replacement phone. Or if you have other means of replacement: third party site, old phone you are not using, full retail price, a friend’s phone, those would be fine to use to proceed to the next step in this equation.

Just in case you do have insurance, here is link that you may file a claim on:  http://bit.ly/Uhmyya If still in need of help, please contact us to let us know! Best of luck to you!
