Several Verizon stores have the Galaxy Note II in stock already.... but can't sell until Thursday (11/29/12). That makes absolutely NO SENSE.

I really would like to know why Verizon Employees at SEVERAL locations that I called and spoke to advised me (yesterday) that I can walk in and purchase the Galaxy Note II today (11/27/12). I called the 5 locations nearest to me (zip= 75024), just to make sure, and all 5 confirmed the same thing. 3 advised that I can get the phone faster than if I pre-ordered!!!

When I went in to purchase this morning, at 10am CST, I was informed that the shipment had not arrived yet. I called just a few minutes ago and 2 stores informed me that the phone is in stock, but their system will not updated to handle the transaction until Thursday 11/29/12.

Now I wish I had pre-ordered the device and not wasted time out of my work day dealing with mis-informed Verizon wireless employees.

Even though this really is not a big deal I am still upset with the way Verizon has handled this device's release. It has already been delayed a month. This has me considering a switch to AT&T.

What is the problem with Verizon stores selling the device NOW if they already have it in stock!???

Its been a heavily debated issue.... you can still pre-order today online and have it thursday. or overnight if the option is there. Most all pre-orders are being shipped today anyway. Nobody is that far ahead of you.

I'm not concerned about getting it before anyone else. It's the principle of the issue that has me agitated. If a Verizon Wireless employee, or in this case SEVERAL, tells me something why can I not take it as fact? I should... but obviously I can not. This is not the level of support I expect from a company who I have been loyal to for years and already delayed the device a month past all others.

What I am looking for in this thread is for some sort of justification as to why, when stores already have the device, they can not sell. A little transparency would be appreciated.

Well.... I can't speak for them, but "unofficially" the launch date has been set as 11/29 and has been for a few weeks according to 3rd party sites that get info from VZW... To this moment, no "public" info has surfaced from VZW themselves on the "official" launch.

#1 shipments have to come in sometime before the item goes on sale

#2 its not the end of the world to have to wait

#3 is this really an issue?

I can think of two reasons.

Number one, just because the product is sitting in their storage area doesn't mean that corporate has allowed that SKU to be scanned into their system, sold, activated, etc.

Now, why would that be? How about the fact that it would infuriate those who paid to pre-order over a month ago, only to see their phones delivered LAST, after any casual buyer could just walk in and purchase one and have that phone before the pre-order people. I am one of those pre-order people, and I must admit that I would be irritated to know what while my phone arrives tomorrow, everybody and their brother is out picking them up at the store today, ahead of me. If that were the case, then what was the point of me pre-ordering? I could have just kept my credit card in my pocket, and walked into a store on the 28th, and had my phone BEFORE all the suckers who gave up their credit card number a month earlier, only to get their phone later.

Verizon is wise to hold off store sales until tomorrow, as a courtesy to all the pre-order folks.

That said, this was OBVIOUSLY mishandled. There should be an advantage to pre-ordering, and there isn't one here at all. Apparently supplies will be plentiful, so the whole thing was pointless. Unless that is, it was all done as a way to gauge sales demand and do forecasts, accurate ordering, bean counting. Maybe that's all this was.

I did an online chat with someone from Verizon today and they told me that they will not be available in store until 12/7.  That seems crazy to me.

Not saying I don't believe you, I do, but that is absolutely insane! I'm glad I pre-ordered, but still, what they told you defies logic.
