I've been following along with the forum, also awaiting my GN2 that i pre-ordered (whats feels like an eternity ago!); but I came across this interesting bit of info on Phandroid.com and wanted to share their insight (they also mentioned Caitlin's post about her "phone" shipping early; ha!):

"

During the past two weeks I have spoken to two people in upper management at Verizon Wireless regarding the GN2 release. This post is for those that care about the conversation.

Both conversations happened with individuals no further than 3 levels down from the CEO. Keep in mind that many of the same questions were asked or mentioned multiple times and the same answer was not always repeated and thus I had to read between the lines.

Here is what I gathered.

Verizon did not sell the Note 1 (as we know) and was not confident enough that it would work on their network as planned so instead of releasing it when other carriers did, it instead allowed 1) field testers to use it for the past month as they have with much success and 2) allow US Cellular to sell the gray version (to test) since they share many towers.

Realizing the white version is much more popular, US Cellular is not allowed to release it until/after Verizon does (to avoid customers switching to US Cellular). Apparently Verizon and US Cellular share A LOT of towers and if you are in an area without VZLTE, USC may be a better option.

The release is targeted for Christmas shopping and VZ did not see enough demand to warrant releasing it any earlier (ie: prior to Thanksgiving). Given the comment that was made about needing to test the phone, I'm not sure this would have even been an option.

Throughout both calls, both mention that the phone will be released on the 27th and also will be shipped on the 27th but also mentioned that it will be released on the 29th. I purposely did not try to pin down a date since what we have heard is that it will ship by the 27th and release on the 29th. I'm not familiar with Verizon so I'm not sure if a Tuesday release is possible. The Droid DNA is to be released on November 21 so we know Wednesday is an option.

All of this does not help us get our phone any sooner but I ended both conversations felling more aware of why Verizon postponed the release and confident that it will be my next carrier on the 27/29th of November."

Thanks for the excellent information.

I've been watching/reading a lot of reviews and comparisons lately, perhaps boredom/anxiety, and for the most part there are some pretty unfair comparisons between the Note 2 and the Droid DNA. Now it's one thing for VZW to act funny because they have some kind of partnership involving the Droid brand. But, what's with reviewers?! They talk on and on about the screen resolution and benchmarks of the DNA and hardly at all about the features the Note 2 has over it. Plus, they gloss over the DNA's shortcomings as if they aren't actually relevant saying for instance that the battery lasts all day. Yeah...ok.  If I weren't so knowledgeable even I might go get a DNA based on the way they make it sound like they're pretty much equal except for the resolution, benchmarks, and beats audio.

What about popup video player, S Pen (and S Pen apps), multiscreen, popup browser, removable storage, larger/removable battery, and noticeably larger screen?

The only thing I really wish the Note 2 had that the HTC phones always come equipped with is the text reflow where you can zoom in the browser and it automatically re-wraps the text to fit the screen no matter how big you make it. They must have a heck of a patent on that technology though because I don't know any other phones that have it and there aren't even any apps to mimic that feature; even when rooted.

I personally believe many of the reviewers are not fans of phablets or styluses (styli?).

I am glad someone else thinks text reflow is an important feature, and I finally found a solution--Boat Browser. I am using it on my Note 1 and it works just the way it should.

I just read yesterday that there is an add-on to Dolphin Browser that does the same thing, but I can't remember where I read it.

Edit: One other great thing about the Boat Browser is that it lets you pinch zoom and reflow text on web pages formatted for mobile. This is the only browser I've seen that lets you do this. The Maxthon Browser claims to reflow text, but it won't reflow on mobile formatted web pages.

But will it work on Jelly Bean? I'm reading that some browsers like Dolphin had it but it doesn't work yet for JB.

What is your favorite video demonstrating all the features of the GN2? I'm talking about a video that would "wow" someone who doesn't know about it yet or doesn't yet realize it's potential? There are quite a few people who who never get by the "it's so big" reaction to look at how beautiful and functional it is.

The original 15 minute one from Samsung is really good and there is a 15-18 minute one by Clove, I believe...I can get links after work.

I like this one which shoes a lot of key features but isn't terribly long.

I meant 'shows' not 'shoes', dumb auto correct.

I'm not sure which cases you are referring to, but OtterBox already has a couple Galaxy Note 2 cases:
