I tried installing Kit Kat from the Software Update and it downloads with no problem. However, as it's installing, the little Android guy falls over and I see the word, "error". Then the phone reboots and I get a window that says:
Software update unsuccessful
Sorry, there was a problem updating your SAMSUNG SCH-I605. No changes were made.
Any ideas and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Ashley,
I turned off my WiFi and tried to complete the update on the network. Same result. After less than 2 minutes into the installation, it died.

Thanks for the additional information Ron! Sounds like a system file might be corrupted and is interfering with the update. Do a hard reset as per this link http://vz.to/1i5WaSo Make sure to disable Automatic Restore at step number 5. Backup your pictures and contacts to the Verizon Cloud http://vz.to/14QbP0I before doing hard reset.

Hi Antonio,
Unfortunately, the link you provided to do a hard reset was a link to how to uncheck the Automatic Restore. Can you provide the link for doing a hard reset?
Thanks.

I was able to do a hard reset and then tried to install the Kit Kat update. Unfortunately, I got the same error message.

Thank you. I appreciate the insight. Was automatic restore on when completing the factory reset? If so, I would suggest testing the device in Safe Mode this will ensure all third party apps are disabled when completing the update, http://vz.to/1p8pMil
