Each manufacturer has different teams and they all finish at different times.  Carriers do not code or even touch the code and pointed out by various manufacturers.  There are various places around the world where the older devices got updated to 5.0.X before the Note 4.  If you have a problem with it then I suggest you get an iPhone or some other device on some other carrier and don't complain the next time around some other device beats you to the next update.  It will happen and does happen.

Agreed! I am curious though...several people complain and whine about not having the L update on their device, but no one explains why they want it so badly. Is it because they just want the latest and greatest? I have read a few change logs for L and I understand it comes down to preference and what not, but just not seeing what the big deal is...unless you're dying for those 'bold' new colors and animations, lol, or maybe I am just missing something L offers that KK does not? The gf has L on her s5 and not seeing much of a difference other than different colors and animations.

From a tech perspective, many of us are looking at Lollipop for multiple reasons. Such as...

Enforcing the use of 64-bit code in the OS, if not now, in the very near future

Ridding ourselves of the clunky Dalvik (JVM) runtime, and moving towards a more efficient C Runtime known as ART (Super useful when "Abusing" the multi-window feature of the Note Smiley Happy ).

Hardware-level flash memory encryption support (not supported by the Note 4's SoC sadly)

Actually having the most recent security updates to a phone for enterprise or the paranoid.

Updated Android CellAPI for discovering LTE bands (super useful for finding XLTE towers and neighbors).

I can name many, and the list goes on. I am hoping in the next week or two the Verizon Note 4s receive the update. I won't be surprised if it takes longer Smiley Happy

I agree this a bit out of hand . and if you think for a sec Verizon is not holding the release of lollipop to put all there bloatware on update sadly mistaken . I don't think to iPhone is a option switching carrier might be your best bet considering the long delay in get updates to android phones on Verizon .lets not forget lollipop was release when the note 4 was release so why this phone was not released with the latest version of android is baffling , the lg 3 already has it for the last 2 months . spare me the iPhone fan boy replies

Manufacturers already disagree with you. 4 manufacturers already went on record about it. Also I used to work for the firm that wrote NFL Mobile for the NFL. It takes matter of hours to test those apps, and the app itself is updated on the fly from the Play Store.

Something else that can be said here is that each version of Android always improves on the last one.

I've heard the comment here more than once that most people don't know what version of Android they are running.  To them I say shame on you.

The other problem is the manufacturers need to stop messing with the Android base code to create these nightmares known as Sense &  TouchWiz.

Take the Nexus 6 as an example.  It has all the same hardware as a Note 4, but a Nexus doesn't have the same update problems that Samsung phones have.  If Samsung released phones with plain Android, we could all be happier.

I wouldn't use a Nexus as an example...

1.  Google wrote the code, and does not distribute the code UNTIL they are finished with the code.  So it looks timely and such because they wrote it specifically over the course of 8+ months for those devices.

2.  You simply can't take AOSP and slap it on a device and expect it to work when the original code isn't even written for the device.  The Note 4, and Nexus 6 may have similar hardware, but the way the logic board is made and how the coms are react differently to the same code.

3.  The Moto X is almost completely stock android and look at the trouble they are having...  to say we all could be happier is a false statement because there is always going to be something someone will complain about.  People complain about how Facebook doesn't sync contact photos.  People complain about how they can't swipe to call from the contact list and have to tap two extra times to make a call...  The list goes on and on...  How the stock Android doesn't make extra use of the screen size, and it should be able to(Google has been working on this since 3.0 and has yet to come up with a solution).
