If you open your Contacts app scroll and find the contact you wish to assign a ringtone to. Select the contact and click on the edit icon (pencil) and then click on Ringtone to choose ringtone of your choice.

Is there an Contact app or just the contact button on my Note 5?
When i open the contacts and select the contact I want and then go to edit..there is no pencil icon..the only thing that comes up when you hit the edit button is the profile and no where on there is an option to change the ringtone.
It really stinks...thanks for the help...

Contacts App that is pre-installed, is there an option to add more fields? It could also be that the contact is being synced from elsewhere (facebook, google+, etc.) and may be read-only. Try adding a new (Googlge) contact and see if you have different options for editing.
