Why won't my device boot completely after the update?

I saw there was an update for my phone so I click on it. The update details said it would update to the newest version of Android, so I clicked download update and then when it got done downloading i clicked install update and after it finished installing it restart the phone and would not boot into android, it just turns on, shows the lg logo then goes to the firmware update screen and it does nothing after that.
