I went to my local Verizon store a few weeks ago to change my prepaid plan from daily to monthly. This evening, I recieved a letter in the mail stating I owe Verizon a $125 security fee because I didn't pass a credit check. Um, I never asked for a credit check? Nor did I ask for a monthly bill...
I think it might have to do with the incompetent employee I had to deal with at the store. Any idea why this happened?

We require a credit check when adding a new line of service for Verizon Wireless. If you have recently added a new line of service, then it's a possiblity you did have a credit check performed on your account.

Well if you went from prepaid to a regular contract phone they do a credit check. If you know you have good credit then I would be concerned why the credit check didn't pass, best to get a free copy of your credit report and look it over good. There is so much fraud these days going on. You are allowed one free credit report a year so take advantage of it every year and review it good. Mary
