I finally gave up and did a reset last night.   When it came back the visual voice mail app was back.   Unfortunately, now I have to do a lot of restores now.    I hope it resolves some other problems I have been having with the phone including a tendency to overheat.

I would still like to know what happened...I suppose that's the programmer in me wanting to debug everything.

None of this helps.   I have the same situation as the original poster.  How can I get Visual Voicemail back on HTC?   It doesn't even show up in the app store/Goggle play

Are you also having the same problem with not being able to get into Application Manager? If not, try this:

Settings > App manager > tap the 3 dots on top-right > Show system

Then browse through your apps and see if Voice Mail is listed there. If so, tap it, and if it has an Enable button, press it.

I followed your instructions and when I get to Visual VM, it shows

"Disable" which is greyed out (cannot press it) or "Force Stop" which is

black. any other suggestions?

Okay, that means that your phone is still showing it installed and enabled. And your sure the app didn't just get relocated to some folder, like the Verizon one?  From your Home Screen, try pressing your Apps button, then press the three dots on the top-right and select Hide/Unhide apps, and see if you can find Voicemail then. If not, try using the magnifying glass on the top-right in the Apps screen to search for it.

I've tried all that. The app is not anywhere.

I hate to say it then, but the only remaining option I can see is to backup your content and then do a factory reset, which JamesFlorida reported had resolved the issue on his end.

This issue has also happened to me on my HTC One M9. The app icon disappeared even though it was showing in the system apps. A Verizon rep told me to do a factory reset also, which, by the way, is an AWFUL procedure to have to go to just to get Verizon Visual Voicemail back.

ALSO, once I did a factory reset, took the four hours to reinstall everything and get it the way it was supposed to be, it lasted only a short while before I lost the visual voicemail AGAIN.

To have to do a factory reset just to get this app back means something is WRONG.

Please figure out the bug here. If the app is on the system, why does the icon for it disappear?  I do NOT have any power saving modes on or anything different. This app used to be fine until about four months ago, now it just stays off the application list unless I look at system apps and it won't work from there either.

ALSO, why can't I just do a reinstall at Google Play? When I look up the app there, there appears to be none from Verizon. What's up??

Please fix this problem.

Thanks.
