I've read on this forum where you have to have the DATA feature turned on to be able to send MMS. It doesn't actually USE the data but it has to be enabled. That may be the problem you are encountering.

thanks Azsaluki, that worked but the quality is poor. I was trying to send existing videos as well. figured i may have to go find an app to send but was hoping i could just use the existing one.

Have you tried a third party messaging app? I use Handcent.   It has the option to send a prerecorded video as an attachment. I don't know if it limits the size of the file, as I have never used the feature. The only attachments I have sent are pictures.

Another option would be to use BlackBerry Messenger. But it requires you and the other person/people to sign up for a free account with BlackBerry. And it uses its own network, so it doesn't affect your text message quota (if you have one). It uses data instead (though not a whole lot).

carriers limit the size (besides most apps). a 20 second HD video is usually too big to email (let's say 20 mb's roughly) much less send via mms. you're just not going to get good quality if you want to send it this way. it didn't used to matter a few years back, but that's because we were viewing them on 2-3 inch screens so it looked fine. now, to take video in a small enough size, with an hd recorder, and view it on a 5 inch hd screen, they just look awful. i usually just upload them to you tube or drop box and text whoever the link to it.

another camera question. is there any other way to take a 'selfie' other than waving your hand in front of the screen, ball your fist then wait 3 secs? I like the countdown but the waiving and the fisting is a bit much.

yes. open the camera. tap the icon in the top middle of the screen (two arrows around a camera) to activate the front facing camera. then just tap the camera shutter icon (looks like a camera and will be bottom middle of screen if in portrait.......left or right middle of the screen if holding in landscape).
