A credit check is when they run your credit history to see if you would be a good risk to get service with Verizon and be able to pay your bill on time.

A security deposit is the amount you will need to pay Verizon for each line on your account when opening service. The amount of security deposit would depend on the outcome of your credit history. If you have good credit, you would likely not have to pay a security deposit. If not, you could possibly have to pay up to $400/line of service when opening a new line of service.

If you have to pay a security deposit, you would receive that money back after you complete 1 year of service AND paying your bill ON TIME and IN FULL each month during that year. If you pay your bill late or not in full during that year of service, the clock would start over for the year before you would receive your security deposit back.
