Replacing a 5c

My son dropped his phone into the pool. Yikes! We have the insurance but the deductible is $149. Does anyone know if it's cheaper if we had another phone to transfer the service to? My sister just upgraded and has her old 5c that she will give to my son.

IF it is a Verizon phone, remove the SIM card from the drowned phone, put it in the replacement phone and it should work.  If you get a SIM error, the dunk in the pool fried the SIM card to, so go to corporate Verizon store and they will give a free activated SIM.

there is no charge for switching devices.

IF the other phone is not a Verizon phone, it won't work.
