Prepaid unpublished and unlisted

Member

I just moved to a new State and switched my number, the same day I started receiving spam calls about my car warranty and now I'm getting more daily. I understood Verizon keeps the number 'unlisted' so how did the spammers get my number?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Robocalls.  Even though your number is unlisted and unpublished, these types of calls are generated by computers, which randomly dials thousands of numbers at a time. Once a number is connected, a computer generated message is played. Once a call number is answered it is considered a working number and the number is provided to other  services that will start sending out pre-recorded messages also. It is almost a never ending battle to stop robocalls and spam.

We understand getting spam calls is extremely annoying, because we are phone users too. You mentioned that you switched to a new number. Did you update your information anywhere? It is possible the information was obtained via those sources. Lisa_VZW
