How do I know if my phone number has been hacked?

Can a wireless number be hacked so it is used by another device? I have received a call from someone who says that they have been getting a lot of calls with my number, yet nothing shows up on my calls made. Can we be hacked by a telemarketing operation? I have tried to get through to Vorizyon, but real long wait on the phone and unable to access the live chat site and apparently no email service.

If you have  a smartphone and download apps from random developers or online(pirated) there are chances you could have your device compromised.

Someone could randomly be spoofing your number and it just so happen to be your number.

JOKERJIM73, we are right here to help. We never want our customers to experience any hacking. What has you saying that your number is being hacked?

We do have a great app called Call Filter. With Call Filter, you can screen incoming calls, auto-block spam and report any unwanted numbers. Or, upgrade to Call Filter Plus with Caller ID for added security. Put a name to the unknown numbers, make your own personal block list, and even assess the risk level of incoming calls. Please take a look by clicking here https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/how-to-use-call-filter/

I see that several of our community members are referring to spoofing. Regrettably, spoofing has become a very popular way for telemarketers and scammers to get calls out. Please reference what this is by clicking here https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-218765/ The FCC has a great page about spoofing at https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/spoofing-and-caller-id that I recommend taking a look at (especially the video titled "Neighbor Spoofing & Robocall Scams"). In the "How do I report suspected spoofing" section there is also a link to file a complaint with the FCC to let them know your number is being used in this Caller ID manipulation. In most cases, these quickly subside but if the calls become persistent, we also offer the option to change your number at no charge.
