How can I find out who is calling me?

How can I find out who is calling me without resorting to one of those rip-off pay services? Only the number is displayed. When I call back, of course, I get voicemail!!!

Search the number on Google. Most times the call is from telemarketing scumbags, you can block up to five numbers to your device for free which expire every ninety days from the My Verizon web portal after you sign into your account.

If you have a smartphone, there are several apps that give you information about the number calling.  One I use is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.youmail.callerid  It's free.

If you have a basic phone, then Google is your best bet - just type in the number and see if it's a known spam or telemarketing number.
