Could this be a virus?

Got this message today.  "Thank you for your loyalty, now you can upgrade your device at no cost, please visit http://ow.ly/TR5lT" from 8606344963.  A couple years ago I got a similar message and was a hacker who got into my account.  Please be aware.

It's spam, not a virus.   Just delete it.

I wonder, did one of your phones just come off of a 2-year contract?  I got the same message last night, and I see on the Upgrade Device page that one of the phones on my plan came eligible for an upgrade the day before.

The text message and url are still fishy to me, so I'm not going to click it to find out whether or not it was actually from Verizon.

Either way, upgrading is never free, so it isn't true.
