Cant use my BYOD gift Card on a device

Why am I unable to pay for device using multiple BYOD gift cards.    This is outrageous and not customer friendly.  The money on the gift cards spent on the device is going back to Verizon so I don't understand why I cannot be helped?

Hello, rcorpus. We understand wanting to be able to purchase your device with the Gift Cards you have received and are here to investigate this. What happens when you attempt to purchase the device with the Gift Card? What type of Gift Card is it?

Payment for a phone will not allow you to use multiple egift cards.  If the card amount is lower than the amount of the phone the system will not accept the payment.  The Verizon finance department is also not able to help.  They said I need a gift card that is more than the price of the phone. This information was not conveyed when transferring from another carrier on the BYOD rebate.
