BECH01, I'm sorry that you keep receiving unwanted calls. I'm not a fan of pesky calls either. Robocalls are something that unfortunately is becoming way too common. These robocalls are not affiliated in any way with Verizon Wireless. Our Verizon Call Filter ( http://spr.ly/6183DN185 ) is a great app at recognizing/screening unwanted calls. We do have some other recommendations that may curb the annoying calls. We suggest that you register on the National Do Not Call Registry http://spr.ly/6189D2hJf.
If you are not having success with our Call Filter feature, you can look for a possible 3rd party app that may have the blocking/screening capabilities that you're looking for. One other thing you may want to do is file a complaint with the FCC. Here's their link http://spr.ly/6189D2huD. Lastly, I know that changing your number isn't the most favorable option, but it might be something to consider. You can do that for free right from your My Verizon account http://spr.ly/6180D2hJA. I am confident that at least one of my suggestions will help.
It almost seems like Verizon likes the spam calls. If Verizon can "block" spam calls for an extra $3 a month, they can block spam calls in general. It's just another money maker, they don't want the spammers gone...
Wrote a detailed reply on this topic due to what happened to me today when VZW called me using my own number, but - error message ""Authentification Failed".
Because of course. Because VZW... which I loved for years and am still trying to do so again. It's not going well.
Every time I sign in to my account on the website, it says it doesn’t recognize me (I’ve had the same number for 5 yrs) and I have to answer my security Q to get in. Once in the page shows a dim account page saying my phone has not been activated. I luckily got a screen shot. Then my normal account page shows up.
What happened was so odd when I got a call from my # but it got stranger. I wanted to share it hoping it would help or elicit answers from VZW reps here.
Either VZW is using our numbers to call us and tell us we are getting deactivated, or scammers are using VZW like they are doing with Apple - using Apple's actual CS/TS number instructing one to call another number. The "VZW" person I spoke to said it's happening to many people because they are having awful problems upgrading the network in my city right now. A quick search says that was done a while ago. Hm.
This post won’t go through either. I used to be a game artist and interface designer and I can’t believe the condition of this site. Planned confusion and unnecessary complication with labyrinthine fee nonsense is a common business model for many these days. It was easier to buy my house than my phone last month.
I read the VZW comments carefully, none said VZW absolutely does not use this tactic (to scare-sell?). I'm sorry. I with I had the trust I had for years, but it's gone. I'm still with them because I get better phone connectivity everywhere than anyone else I know.

I'd like to help revive this topic - hopefully someone at VZW will see it. Better yet: look into it. This might be long, but being vague doesn’t seem like a useful or helpful thing to do.
My (mid September) iPhone rang. It was me! Nope. It was VZW(?). She said my phone was being deactivated due to unusual activity (too much solitaire?) unless I verified some info by calling another number. I was asked for my zip code (okay) and PIN, which I had to check because I didn't want her to be suspicious. (VZW already accused me of fraud ad that dept said I could never buy a product from them again, ever - even though I already paid for my new cell, in full, from VZW -hundreds of dollars). Finding the PIN took seconds but they had hung up.
Called VZW TS. Spoke to Jessica, who was lovely. She said many people were getting called by their own numbers for the same reason because they were in the middle of switching to 5G in my area currently (I think it was done a while ago). I asked about a settings issue and wrote down the steps and I think she made them up.
She said her supervisor would call me on my landline to make sure everything was fine. I offered to do a survey, she was so nice - she said, no, she just likes to help. Maybe so! Was told to make a call while waiting for the Sup. to call. It worked.
Sup. Jerry said my phone was okay, but I asked about my screen going black during calls and he said he would have to send me a new phone. Hm? Said I could try going to a store (no car). Then he hung up on me.
I called the number given to me again (almost identical to VZW CS number). Recording said "thanks for waiting/value my using them -never said VZW. Guy picked up. I asked, "Is this VZW?" He hung up.
I don't know what just happened. I read the comments in this thread and none of the VZW said that the dont ever call people with their own number. In other forum sites, many had the same thing - call from their # and threat of deactivation - some deactivated.
Would love to know if the Valley (Phoenix and outlying cities) is converting to 5G right now, causing people to get these calls/threats. Makes no sense.
I have a love-hate relationship with VW - all love until September. I'm not a fan of the business model of creating deliberately complicated processes so... people just agree to this extra fee, that extra fee... not giving the right price until you're hooked. I didn’t accept it - took almost 40 hours over 6 days on the phone with them -to get my phone.
Im not sure if I spoke to VZW or not - if I did, I’d like to know why they would call people using that customers number. Doesn’t seem legit. If it wasn’t VZW, then scammers are using the company to get info (or phones?) Who knows. I need a cell for safety - these big tech/com companies dont need to care, I guess. Loved VZW for 5 years.
Sorry for going so long - it was so odd maybe some might find it helpful or and/or elicit some VZW response with info.
