LG G3 (VS985W) bricked the day after OTA upgrade

Yesterday my G3 pushed an update. Afterwards, many apps would crash when trying to run (Google app, games), or when performing certain basic actions (opening a link in Facebook, opening an email in Inbox). I figured it would iron itself out or, at worst, I'd have to reset to factory settings. This morning when using Chrome the screen went blue for a few seconds then off. Now it won't go beyond the red Verizon loading screen. The most I can do is get it to load into Download Mode (plug it into computer while holding Volume Up), but that only lasts a minute or two at most (sometimes only seconds) before I get the blue screen. While it could be an unfortunate coincidence that all of this started after the update, I can't help but feel as if Verizon is complicit in destroying what was, 32 hours ago, a functional device. Also, because I'm not eligible for an upgrade until December (only 4 months away!), it's going to cost me a bundle one way or another. Never getting an LG again.

This may be related to the problem KRILAR53 is having (thread HERE) with his/her G4, but that thread lacks enough detail for me to be sure.

Updates are meant to improve your device LIZZESTL. I regret to learn of all the difficulties you are experiencing with your device. When did you update the software on your device? Typically after an software update, it may take a few days after for your device to normalize with apps on your device. Have you tried to run your phone in Safe Mode to determine if there are apps that no longer are compatible with the new software. For directions on how to run your phone in Safe Mode click, http://vz.to/1iYHQNd

It won't boot into safe mode. It won't run factory reset, either. I went ahead and preordered the Note 7. It would be nice if Verizon would wave the upgrade fee I'll be charged for not being able to send in a working device after it arrives.

LIZZESTL, we apologize for any inconvenience that this equipment matter may have caused you. You will be charged a $20 upgrade fee if you purchase a new device at full retail price or through the device payment program. Unfortunately, we're unable to waive it as it helps us cover Verizon Cloud, Wireless workshops, and device support which is everything that you need to make sure that you have the best experience possible on your phone.
