High jetpack data usage

Could someone help me understand why it is advertised that downloading video such as a Netflix movie would use around 600 MB/hr yet when I try to watch a movie it uses several GBs not MBs on my jetpack.

Because advertisements are made to sell/promote the product and to make it sound as attractive as possible, the minimal amount of data will be used. As an informed consumer, your job is to verify if such claims are correct. Google is your friend: Netflix bandwidth.

We know how much fun Netflix is to use and we want to make sure that you have the correct information at all times. Where did you see this advertisment? Any time you stream or download anything you run the risk of using large amounts of data. This is completely dependant on the file you are loading. Does that help?

The data usage charts are hopelessly outdated.  Maybe 5 years ago Netflix would use 0.6 GB per hour, but now if in HD it is more like 3 to 5 GB per hour.
