Prepaid devices are a separate entity from normal contracted devices and services. Chances are if your SIM cards are prepaid they will only work with registered prepaid devices. Such is the nature of the beast.
Of course there is no harm in trying. As long as the SIM card sizes are compatible you can always plug it in and give it a shot to confirm. In the past this hasn't been possible to my knowledge.
