Can I set up my A/C unit with a remote setting?

I want to setup my A/C unit with a remote setting, I do not have WIFI currently as the home is 100 plus miles away. Instead of paying for the internet (high price) will the jetpack be the right answer for me.

Nope, a Jetpack cannot be used for this! If you have access to terrestrial based internet services such as DSL and cable, such service is not only more appropriate it is more reliable.

Some of us take everything Verizon has to say with a grain of salt. Here is the relevant excerpt from the Verizon Wireless Customer Agreement that you must accept (link at the bottom of most all VZW sponsored web pages):

This Agreement and the documents it incorporates form the entire agreement between us. You can't rely on any other documents, or on what's said by any Sales or Customer Service Representatives, and you have no other rights regarding Service or this agreement.

As Ann154 correctly point out, the only service that Verizon Wireless sells that meets your requirements is LTE Internet (Installed) because it comes with a public facing static IP address allowing you to have access to your home network from the Internet. You cannot control anything connected to your home network unless it has direct access to the internet and the only service Verizon Wireless sells with such access is Verizon Wireless LTE Internet (Installed).

If you go the terrestrial based route, verify in writing that it comes with a public facing static IP address so you can access your home network from the internet.

A Jetpack isn't designed for 24/7 operation.

You should look at a USB modem plugged into a compatible WiFi router.

Thank you for answering my question, No router because I have no WIFI or internet access. I want to be able to turn on/off certain devices that will be connected to the Jetpack, are you saying it will, or won't do that, Verizon store said yes? so now I am confused.

There are devices that will connect to routers using WIFI and the user can turn on/off those devices using their cell phone from afar.

The USB modem is the Internet connection and the router takes that connection and redistributes the access over wifi. Your devices then connect to the Internet through the wifi signal.

Also to remotely access your A/C unit you need a public IP address. Only the LTE Installed device provides a public IP address. All the other devices like the Jetpack and USB modem use a private IP address behind the Verizon NAT firewall. You would have to setup a VPN to get around the limitation.
