All these UI are eye candy only, the more features they add the more resources the UI uses.
I need a device that works not look preatty. I perfer Sense over all UI but the UI is one of the reasons HTC experiance such poor battery life over other devices.

Sense is a bit more then just eye candy though. They do add
some functionality over stock android. Sense isn't the only thing that
caudses bad battery life. Its these LTE radios, large screens and bloatware
that has services running in the background.
Sounds like you are old school. Maybe this is more your style

or get an iPhone like i may be getting if Verizon keeps screwing its
cuztmorers.

I think it is time I tell you a bit about my background...
I have developer software for windows as well as android for some while and I understand how the software function and even tho I am as you say "Old School" I also know that Sense or any other UI overlay isnt required for the OS to function and in fact the process to intergrate the features that you see as neat or needed usually cause the issues with the OS.
For you these features are neat and improve functionality but for programmers they are more than a headache.
You are free to have your views but sometimes it pays off to listen to others input also.

meh. It's no secret that sense is an overbloated memory and battery killer that is just meant to look pretty. The included carrier bloatware is pretty much negligible in terms of actual performance and battery life. A sense rom is about 300MB+ while an AOSP rom can be 100MB or less and people complain about the carriers adding bloat.
