Personalize - Add Shortcuts to Homescreen

Hello - I want to add some additional Shortcuts to my home screen.  I know to go into personalize > Add items to Home > Shortcuts.

In the Shortcut listing there is a button to 'Add Shortcut'.  But this button  just goes right back to the homescreen. It doesn't open a way to add more Shortcuts to the listings.

Am I doing something wrong here?  I thought there was a way to add more shortcuts to the listing so they can be put on the homescreens.

I have the latest Gingerbread update.

You are going to the correct place but where it says add shortcut is just the heading of that screen if you tap there the window just closes you have to tap one of the shortcuts listed below depending on what you want a shortcut to. Hope this helps

just long touch a homescreen that has empty space on it. a menu will pop up that has "shortcut" as an option (allong with apps, widget, folder). select shortcut and then select which shortcut you want. but you have to be on a homescreen with room for it.
