HTC ONE part 2

@chelseaerinn That's been known for over a year now. As long as you don't use the upgrade on your "unlimited 4G" line you get to keep your unlimited data. You can activate any phone you want on it. I plan on using my mom's line to buy the subsidized HTC One, and then just activate it back on my line.

I have found myself perusing the Samsung GS4 lately.  I want the HTC One, but in many ways the GS4 is a superior phone.  I'm sure I'm not alone with a "wandering eye"!  I wonder how many sales HTC has lost thanks to Verizon's lousy customer relations performance?  I always keep my phones in a holster case, so an all metal design like the One may be a moot point.

I took a look too the SG4.  It's just as capable as the HTC One.  Here is what brought me over.  HTC One is a nice quality built phone.  A little on the heavier side compared to the SG4.  However, I kind of like the weight a bit.  I bought a case for mine too.  I bought the SEIDIO Active Case with a kickstand.  It's a nice case and matches the black HTC One really nice.  The kickstand adds to the thickness but in the pocket it's not that noticeable.   Plus you don't have to hold the dumb phone all the time.

Another reason I went HTC is the BOOOOOOM! Sound.  This phone is loud and the speakers are great for a phone.  The best out there with no other phone in comparison.  I'm sure that will change soon.

Since I came from the Incredible 2 anything would have been an upgrade so the camera was improvement no matter which way I went.  Since low light is where I could never take pictures with the Dinc2 I thought that the HTC One would work better for me.  None of my pictures ever get blown up where I can detect any issue.

So you can't go wrong with either phone and really to be honest you can't go wrong with SG4 and Verizon.  But again I feel that Verizon clearly lost me as a customer because of their crazy branding HTC phones, their lack of updates in a timely manner, and their lack of clear communications on the HTC One.  I am no fan boy of HTC but they really did a great job with the HTC One and it's clearly a great phone that can compete with SG4.

@Bob2314, thanks for the SEIDO Active Case reference -- I'll be checking it out if/when I get a 'One, as I'll be missing the kickstand on my TB.

Both the One and SG4 Nexus versions come out tomorrow. Of course. NOT AVAILABLE ON verizon

http://www.droid-life.com/2013/06/24/reminder-nexus-experience-editions-of-the-galaxy-s4-and-htc-one...

But the writing could be on the wall.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-06-26/sprint-sets-sights-on-verizon-at-t-as-deal-fight-recedes.ht...

"The company stands to get about $5 billion from Tokyo-based SoftBank to help bolster its network and make acquisitions.

Now that the drama of the battle for Sprint has ended, SoftBank can focus on building a better wireless-data network that is needed to compete with AT&T and Verizon,”

Will be a while, but it's coming and Verizon will lose significant customers numbers if they don't start catering.

Bob2314, how cool does it run?

I was in store today to pick up a GS4 but after a few minutes while playing a youtube clip I noticed the GS4 is warming under the camera (an Iphone was cool at the same setup) now I wonder if it's an issue for GS4 or was just the show model in store.

I went into my local Verizon store and of course was engulfed by sales people trying to sell my on phones from last year. When I mentioned that I wanted the HTC One, they scattered like roaches. I talked to the manager who said they were expecting the phone at the end of July. According to him, all the other carriers got the phone first because they paid an exclusivity fee and that Verizon doesn't want to pay the fee and save the consumer the cost. When I mentioned that an exclusivity fee didnt make sense since every other carrier had the phone which didnt make it exclusive, he shifted gears and said that Verizon didnt have the phone yet because the regional sales people didnt think the phone was going to sell. I showed him the posts on the Verizon site and on the HTC twitter feed and asked if Verizon actually knew how to gauge consumer interest. He replied by asking if I was an HTC fanboy. I replied that I was excited to have a phone that was rated as the best phone by every tech site and magazine, which didnt make me a fanboy but an informed consumer. He had no reply, told me he was going on his lunch break and pushed me in the direction of the RAZR. I left.

Bottom line: I dont think that the frustration is a secret to the tech industry and consumers. The problem is that its somehow a secret to the stock market, analysts and evidently Verizon itself. When people in the market start buzzing about consumer frustration and the stocks react accordingly, thats when Verizon will care about its customers and understand what they want. Until then, fat chance on getting the HTC One or Sony Xzperia or any other flagship phone that is not from Samsung or Apple.

The HTC One does get warm when playing Vice City.  Since I don't play other games I cannot tell you how others respond.  Browsing the web or doing other simple phone tasks don't seem to warm up the phone, at least nothing that I could measure.  But pleas just don't take my word for it.  Playing Vice City high res is very smooth.  The only slowness I've seen is when passing to another map, in which the game has to load the new map (which is normal in the original game).

Funbird - I had a very similar experience at the Verizon store a couple months back before the J-LO May 26th announcement.  The sales people have almost got the game plan down straight from Best Buy.  It's called treat every customer as a complete ID-10-T user and push them into a different product.  I told them I wanted an HTC One and literally one sales guy left and walked away and the lady sales person that stayed tried to sell me the HTC DNA and a Bluetooth speaker.  I told her that with the HTC One you don't need a small Bluetooth speaker in which she just starred blankly and proceeded through her sales plan.

Granted I can understand the sales approach as most people just don't know what they want or need at the time of entering the store.  And I don't blame them for not knowing what the HTC One is if it has not be released.  But for heaven sakes at least allow your sales people to educate themselves through an informed customer (or an dummy like me).

Mk7se - Just another article the proves that Verizon did not approach the HTC One with any kind of plan.
