So, I guess this my big rant with Verizon on the HTC One.

I 100% understand that I cannot have any phone that I want @ Verizon.  I understand that they need to test the phone on their network.   I understand that they need to add crapware to the phone to subsidize the cost of the phone to me.  I so far have zero complaints about their service.  And I understand that not every phone that is out cannot be on Verizon?

So here is the problem.

1.  I cannot complain that Verizon does not have the phone.   However, I feel so compelled to complain because they have not said that they are not getting the phone.  They just direct me to HTC DNA.  Which continues to be a big mystery.

2.  I want to stay with Verizon but their amount of crapware, their confusing cost plan structure, their inability to support a phone 1 year old, makes me just want to give up.  For me it's lack of good communication.  When the IPhone was coming to Verizon it was communicated well.   Not a huge big secret, some could argue against this.

3.  The biggest issue is their lack of communication.  As they are trying to keep all of us guessing as to what they are doing so that some of us do not jump ship (not even sure that they really care).

Not sure why I really care about this so much.  It's just a phone, but one thing I think compels me is that if I do switch carries they usually carry the new phones without so much drama and for me it's a plus to go with a lower cost carrier if I can get decent service.

Calling Verizon's call center today,  I was speaking with a rep.

She said that in front of her there hangs a HUGE poster of HTC ONE.

She asked her managers why they have that poster.  All they said is that it's confidential.

All I can say is this.  Of course, VZW is the superior network.

But, now I'm stuck with an S4, which I know many people love... but I don't. I'll admit to being an HTC fanboy, and an especially HUGE fan of the ONE.

I called AT&T back.  They said they will have my entire area built up to 4gLTE within the month. Construction has already begun.

This is crazy..especially because it's only a phone (to some), but I think I'm switching back to them..especially since service will be as good or better out here within weeks.  They can get me back on my original contract from a couple of weeks ago.

Love the network, but soooo tired of the games.  The 22nd was the kick to the gut..and all of the secrecy.  Especially when I know the phone is right here on a network that is improving.

As ridiculous as it sounds, I think I may end up jumping again today.  The S4 is a nice phone, but not for me.  When I made the original jump to ATT, I should have just stayed there.  I'm unhappy with what I have and don't want to be trapped with it for 2 years.  Perhaps back to the ONE again...today.

@pmangr's story regarding the consequence of early leaks is compelling.  Also, regarding the difficulty of releasing the same phone to every carrier, the picture below is very humbling.  Roughly the entire left-hand side of the circuit board is radio components and VZW's radio requirement are (as far as I understand) relatively more demanding!

So, given a) how much HTC is struggling financially, b) difficulty of ramping up mfg of HTC One as is for other carriers, c) the fact that they already released their 2nd most recent flagship phone ('DNA) to VZW, I'm willing to give them a 3-6month grace period for release of an HTC One type device to VZW (that is, as far as whoever the heck I am to think anyone cares what grace period I'm willing to offer).  Smiley Happy.

My BlackBerry was under-performing. Actually I believe it was slowly dying on me. I was following the release of the HTC One for months. I went to AT&T several times to play with the phone. My heart was set on the HTC One but I became tired of waiting for Verizon to catch up. I needed a new phone I could rely on so I made the decision & went with the Nokia Lumia 928.

In a way I am glad Verizon was late to the party because then I would have never considered this phone. In my opinion  the Windows 8 is better OS than Android & Apple. The user interface  is extremely pleasant to navigate. It is quick & efficient.  Uploading my documents to SkyDrive was easy as pie. Syncing my contacts,  calendar, & hotmail with my phone was a breeze. Not to mention this phone is sexy as h**l!

The other cell phone manufacturers really need to embrace this operating system because it's fantastic. This OS is the best kept little secret. I ordered the the Nokia Lumia 928 for $100 on Verizon's website & in addition received a $25 credit for the app store. Do not hesitate to purchase this phone if you're tired of waiting for the HTC One.

My girlfriend is with AT&T. She upgraded from Iphone & picked up the HTC One. I've been having her give me a play by play about her experience with her new phone. She just loves the phone but she's not crazy about the Android OS but I believe she's going to keep it. She's been with Apple for as long as I've been with BlackBerry. I really hope Verizon releases the HTC One real soon for all you guys. I know what it's like to have to wait. I'm crossing my fingers for all you HTC One fans.

What are they accomplishing by this? are they just waiting until they have enough to stock the store for everyone to buy or are they trying to torture us? lol

I've been following this thread since the original one was closed. I've also been following the HTC One since the "M7 rumors" came about. In fact, i've been in this same dilemma since the original HTC One X came out. I too got tired of Verizon giving HTC the cold shoulder and at one point even tried out the AT&T network with the HTC One X. I loved the phone and the network here in Southern California is just as strong as Verizon's.

In the end I gave the HTC One X back and stuck with Verizon. Having taken several road trips across America and road trips from Southern California all the way to Oregon, I can say that the Verizon network has never disappointed me. I've had signal in the middle of nowhere deserts (though internet was lacking sometimes) and I was very grateful to be able to call someone when one of my tires blew out in the middle of nowhere desert and I was unable to switch it out myself (the geniuses who installed my tires tightened the bolts too tight; even the tow truck guys had a hard time).

Take it from me, guys, it's just a phone. I too was obsessed as a lot of you seem to be here in this thread (no offense), but in the end it's just a phone. Your network should come first and the phone should always be second. There is ALWAYS going to be a better phone; better phones come out EVERY year, but it takes more than 1 year (it can take decades, for example) for a network to improve its service.

Yea, it sucks that Verizon always seems to brush off hot devices. Believe me, I was obsessed with the HTC One X. However, within months of giving it back the HTC Deluxe (HTC DNA) rumors started to emerge. Then when it was announced I was disappointed with the limited storage capacity and the lack of SD card slot. But within months the HTC M7 rumors started to emerge so I didn't get the DNA and decided to wait....Then Verizon didn't release it. Now we have rumors that there might be an HTC One release on Verizon.

I personally believe that there will be an HTC One release or perhaps another variant; but not anytime soon. Guys, the HTC DNA is what, less than 6 months old? Verizon is not going to undercut sales on a device they've committed too. I'm sure they're under contract to purchase so many devices from HTC; they are not going to make a move that could potentially have a negative effect on their profits.

However, once I realized that it is just a phone I decided just to get the HTC DNA in late April. I purchased full price in order to keep my unlimited data. So far the phone hasn't disappointed me. I guess the point that I am trying to make here is to be patient. I was patient but in the end I was on an endless waiting cycle to have the "best" phone of the year. I probably would have waited a little longer, but my old phone was falling apart.

Anyway, be patient; but never dump your network over a phone.

Well said, and what you say about the VZW network is true.  At&t can't compare in most places.  Where I live there is no signal at my house and is very spotty driving around town.  I do it VZW even 4G/LTE.  I don't know much about what tmob has around here but I don't imagine much.  Don't see anyone around with their phones.  I do see a few Sprint but most of those are people who are only around here during the summer.

I agree.

However, what is the play on just saying "No, we are not going off the HTC One"?   Not, "We are not offering the HTC One at this time but look at the HTC DNA.

I just feel that there is this underlying drama that they are causing.  Making it seem like they "will" carry it.

But, hey you are right it's just a phone.  However, I think like with most big companies they get to a point where they stop listening to their customers, business partners, and etc.   Even the SG4 was late to the table and that doesn't show well for users who are waiting for a particular phone.  Even the SG4 wasn't such a big cluster secret.

Got my HTC ONE today on AT&T.  So far so good, but I'll know over the next few days if the network is equivalent.  The phone is worth taking the 14 day test and switching over.

My Ford Sync worked right out of the box - just had to turn on bluetooth and pair.  Phone and messages.

@Korlath's view I don't think this compares much to the HTC One X release. There have been 5 million One's sold so far and at this point VZW could be making much more money selling the One. Also yes, the DNA is only 6 months old but already VZW was offering it for free.. so that says something. Btw this is all speculation and I could be wrong.
