1.) I plugged my iPhone head set ear buds into my new Thunderbolt and the phone rings. I answer and can hear just fine but the caller cannot hear me. It's like the speak is on mute. This didn't happen on the HTC Evo. What's up? Is there a setting I am missing?
2.) Also, anyone tried to charge the phone while playing movie? The kickstand and the charger are not set up to work together? This seems odd? It also seems like the kick stand covers up the speaker? Opening the kickstand seems to allow better sound in speaker phone mode.
3.) My HTC Evo can toggle back and forth between 3g mode and 4g mode. My Thunderbolt has no such setting, icon or widget that I can find? Anyone help me out here?
4.) Are there any hacks to update the Thunderbolt OS to 2.3 or 2.4? Or must I wait for official release? My Blackberry had advanced OS 6 available way before officially released? It was buggy but way better than the OS 5, and it was easy to install. Does Thunderbolt have early updates for those wanting to test out new OS? If there is, how is the install handled?

1) Have you tried answering calls on speakerphone yet?
2) It was a dumb design, I hear some people are stacking books under the TB to accommodate for the charging port. I don't notice a different in sound quality when the kickstand is in/out.
3) Dial *#*#4636#*#* - scroll to "Set preferred network type" - select "CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto,"
4) The official release is not out yet, it's ALWAYS best to wait until the official OTA update. When the bugs are worked out you will get it. I've heard the TB is in the front of the line to get it though *rumor*

Did you try turning the volume up? It may be set by default at a low volume. It could also be defective. My cousin says his TB doesn't have that problem and he uses the one from an AT&T iPhone before switching over to the TB.

I think it's for sales of their Dock. If it was the other way around then the Volume would be a problem. It's hard to say...

TB doesn't have a toggle yet, but word is that it's in the works. LTE works DIFFERENTLY than WiMax so it's easily implentated for WiMax than it is for LTE.

Currently you can root your phone, and 2.3 port is in the works with CM7. Rooting voids your software warranty. There currently no way to "beta" test releases unless it's leaked by someone. Usually no rooting is required, but also you will get no tech support is something happens.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

For #1, there's apparently a bug in the software that makes it think every headset plugged in has a mic.
