1RubyLady,
This is not how we want your HTC One working. Software updates should be helping the device work better. I understand sometimes glitches can come through. Let's see if we can get your device back up and running properly.
What happens when you power the phone off & back on? How about when you remove the sim card for a few minutes when it is off? http://vz.to/1d03dKk
If you do not notice any changes by doing that, the next thing I would try is an alternate reset. You will want to make sure the device is powered off. Here is a link that will walk you through the steps how: http://vz.to/1cjGsR8
Keep us posted on any changes.

Have you tried calling Verizon Customer service? That's what I'd do first.
If I tried that and got nowhere, I'd take it to my local Verizon corporate store and say something like: "This update that Verizon pushed to my phone has caused a problem. What is Verizon going to do about it?" The advantage of the in-person approach is that you're standing there in front of them with one of their phones that obviously has a critical problem...rather than someone who can't see you or your phone. It's probably important that it be a Verizon-owned store, not just a cell phone store that deals for Verizon.
Good luck.
