I have a droid razr Maxx  and a 2012 mustang with fords sync syatem. When the phone is paired up to the car  and then when you shut it off the bluetooth on the phone should drop out. Ford checked out the car and claim its fine. This is my sexond razr  that does the same thing.. any suggestions?

Mibad- Perhaps I don't understand. Your bluetooth of course will stay on until you turn it off on the phone. When you restart your car it should hook up again. This may not be your problem but I have an '11 Mustang and after my phone got ICS I had to remove my phone completely from the Sync. I reloaded it and then it worked fine. I was having problems before that. I'm sorry if I don't understand your problem.

The problem is that when you shut the car off, and open the doors, shut them and then walk away. the bluetooth should disconecct from the car. occasionally mine doesn't. It drains the battery in the phone and causes the phone to lock up and do weird things. This is the second phone that this does it to. I went back to ford and had them do a master reset and then pair the phone back up. I'm still having that issue. Thank you for taking the time to respond. My next step is to call verizon tech support and see if anyone else is having this issue.I appologize, my description was rather vague and I realized this after posting it

OK Mibad, I understand. That is really strange. I never heard of that. However my wife and I both have Fords with Sync and the systems often act really strange. One day it works and the next it won't recognize the phone. And nothing was changed. I tried to update both vehicles on Ford's website and had all kinds of grief. A friend who was a Ford dealer said they have several problems with Sync. I'm sorry I don't have an idea for your problem. All of our problems have been the Sync and not our Androids. Good luck.

Maybe I don't understand everything but, BT isn't supposed to turn off when you exit the car. All it does is loose the pairing to the device (car). BT will stay on until you turn it off. My understanding of the reason is that you can and may have multiple BT devices paired to the device (ie mouse, keyboard, headset...) that you don't want to stop working just because you are no longer using the car.

I have a Chevy Cruze and I just don't turn on BT until I'm in the car. I turn it back off when I get out but the pairing goes away as soon as I turn off the car.

BT on many phones and in a car can be lots of fun.

My wife and I have both our phones setup for our two cars and once when I came up on her in traffic, my car latched onto her phone and I got to be part of the phone call until I dropped back far enough away for the pairing to drop. It's also a good way to tell when my wife is in the store and coming to the car. She always forgets to turn off BT and is on her phone when she's awake so I pick her up in the car as soon as she gets close.

Ahhh...good times.

Hi Mi,

It sounds to me like the BT in the car is not turning off. When two phones do the same thing, gotta suspect the commonality - car BT.

Does the Ford use a BT device for remote keyless entry? Do you need a key to start the car? My car, all I need is the key in my pocket or in the car somewhere. It senses when the key is outside or within a few inches of the car and blows the horn if the car is on and the key is outside. It also senses when the key is in the car and the car is off (keeps me from locking the key in the car). Annoys the crap out of my wife when I get out of the car and she has her purse in the backseat and is still trying to get to it.

Good Point. The car does have a remote start. The remote wasn't factory installed but by Mobile Dealer Services which does the installs for the dealership. The guy had a hard time getting it installed and working properly. I didn't have the Droid razr Maxx at that time but a Casio G zone Ravine and wasn't experiencing any problems with that. The dealership has one guy that all he does is the sync system on the ford product. I'll contact him and Mobile dealer services to see if there' an update on the software. Thanks for the input! By the way.. what nic or handle do you use?

I saw a few posts about a month ago from some BMW owners that had to have the firmware in their car updated in order for BT to work with Razr Maxx and ICS.

Since Android is a form of Linux and Linux is security concious, I'm not surprised that BT drivers in the Android software are not real universal. As much of a pain in the butt as it is to you now, could you imagine if someone had an easy way to hack your car (there are actual reported cases of using the remote air pressure sensor to hack a cars computer) and break in through the BT connection.

My best friend has a remote entry for his Tundra and one time when I was using the key to fetch the truck, I clicked the lock from quite far away to see how far I could be. When I did, the Chevy Truck next to me blinked it's lights and I heard the door locks. I was alone and I tried it several times and worked. We knew the guy and it turned out he had an after market setup in his car. Technology is great but sometimes it scares the crap out of me.
